I have listed for your perusal a very rare early 19th century possibly 18th century Polycrome painted ,Carved Walnut & Wrought Iron Tavern Skittle Ally Coat Hanger with swan neck hooks.

Originally caved from one piece of Walnut, the Hanger has Two Coat Swan Necked Hooks fashioned from Wrought Iron place into the carved depictions of skittles (slightly chipped) with one larger king skittle in the centre. The carved skittle were originally painted with colourful polycrome paints, but as you can clearly see via my pictures listed the paintwork has over the century's  deteriorated leaving just remnants of colour. It would have originally been placed on the wall at the foot of the Skittle run for players to place their jackets on while playing. The game of Skittles was a very popular Tavern/pub game in London during the 17th/18th and 19th century's, originally brought to our shores by Dutch Mariners. Variations of the game sprung up all over England but it was always played with 9 skittles to knock down at the end of an Ally 27 foot long, it was played for fun but also for money waged.

Its my belief that this particular Coat Hanger came from a tavern or pub in Worcestershire, as they played a Skittle game with a different designed King pin which had to be toppled first before any other pin would be counted in a game.

Please view all pictures listed as they go a long way towards the items complete description.
