The Kowa 8-Z (16H/B&H) is a 2x anamorphic lens with the same typical flares as the well-known Kowa Prominar anamorphic lenses.
With cameras with S35 sensor in 16 : 9 format it can be used in 2.66 : 1 and in 2.39 :1 crop from a focal length of 35 mm, with the Rectilux Hardcore DNA from 40 mm. With the Lomo OKC shooting lenses in PL mount and the HCDNA you get the classic Kowa set with 40, 50 and 75mm focal length.
For even wider angles of view, its flare color can be combined very nicely with the large NAC anamorphic lens, which uses the full 16:9 sensor as a 1.33x anamorphic lens ( aspect ratio 2.37 : 1 ). If you create your sequence in the editing program, for example, in 3840 x 2160 UHD and an anamorphic pixel ratio of 1.33x, you can combine the shots of the NAC with the 2x Kowa without much conversion effort. The NAC then opens up a wide-angle range up to 28mm with the Canon 16-35mm Zoom
