Wayang golek is one of the traditional puppetry arts of the Sundanese people. Originally from West Java, in Indonesia, it differs from other forms of wayang in the way of making the puppets, which involves the use of wood, as opposed to typical skins. The Wayang golek is especially popular in the Pasundan area.

On November 7, 2003, UNESCO listed the Wayang theatres with both flat puppets made of leather (wayang Kulit) and wood (wayang klitik) and three-dimensional wooden puppets (wayang golek) as three of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity .

Wayang golek è una delle tradizionali arti di burattineria dei popoli Sundanesi. Originaria del Giava occidentale, in Indonesia, si differenzia dalle altre forme di wayang per il modo di realizzare i pupazzi, che prevede l'utilizzo del legno, al contrario delle tipiche pelli. La Wayang golek è popolare soprattutto nella zona di Pasundan.

Il 7 novembre 2003, l'UNESCO indicò i teatri Wayang con le marionette sia piatte fatte di pelle (wayang Kulit) e di legno (wayang klitik) e sia tridimensionali in legno (wayang golek) come tre dei Patrimoni orali e immateriali dell'umanità.
