  • Beschreibung: Sehr schönes Bildnis; Porträt des Diplomaten Johann Jacob Stokar aus Schaffhausen mit Kragen und einer Medaille tragend. Erschienen in: Leonh. Meister, Helvetiens berühmte Männer a. d. Schweiz, Zürich 1782. Die Familie Stokar ist ein Rats- und Gerichtsherrengeschlecht (Patriziergeschlecht) der Freistaaten Schaffhausen und Zürich. Der Bildnis- und Landschaftsmaler, Radierer und Zeichner Heinrich Pfenninger war Schüler von A. Graff in Dresden, mit Stationen in Paris und Budapest; er fertigte unter anderem Radierungen zu Lavaters Physiognomik.

  • Description: Very nice portrait; portrait of the diplomat Johann Jacob Stokar from Schaffhausen wearing a collar and a medal. Published in: Leonh. Meister, Helvetiens berühmte Männer a. d. Schweiz, Zurich 1782. The Stokar family is a councillor and court lord family (patrician family) of the Free States of Schaffhausen and Zurich. The portrait and landscape painter, etcher and draughtsman Heinrich Pfenninger was a pupil of A. Graff in Dresden, with stations in Paris and Budapest; among other things, he produced etchings on Lavater's Physiognomics.
