Listvenite was first found in the Ural Mountains,Russia by the German mineralogist Gustav Rose in 1832. Listvenite got its name from the place it was first found on the Listvyanoy Mount. Other stone deposits are concentrated in the Krasnoyarsk Region and Caucasus Mountains, Russia, and Kazakhstan. The Listvenite properties and appearance are similar to Jasper.
From a geological point of view, listvenite is classified as a rock, not a mineral. Listvenite is a combination of minerals – muscovite, fuchsite and quartz. Due to the mica content, listvenite stone acquires a bright luster, while fuchsite gives listvenite a green tint, and quartz gives hardness. Brown and red stones are also found in nature.
The magical and medicinal properties of the stone have not been studied enough, but still there is some information available. Since the Listvenite deposits are located near gold-bearing ores, it can be considered that the stone symbolises wealth and success.
