Beautiful vintage 1976 Takamine F-455S in abalone Tree of Life inlays with custom pick-guard , built-in electronics in Brazilian Rosewood

This is a professional level takamine made in limited numbers in Japan , this was the first year 1976 until 1979 , this is the top of the line at the time .

The electronics maybe original and sounds great plugged and unplugged of course

The guitar is in very good-excellent condition with no damage , no cracks, or repairs, shows minor scratches, dings and scuffs , it shows beautiful abalone binding all around , real inlays of tree of life , no bellying , no bulging, flat top , straight neck , new strings , great low action , no buzzing , frets and fretboard are very good for the age showing only mild fret wear in the first few positions and plenty of life left , electronics could be original, not under-saddle and not under-the bridge comes with 9 volt battery so its an active pickup and probably built-in microphone as far as we can tell , most likely installed from the 1980s .

As a conclusion, this Takamine guitar was the answer to Martin D-45 and esthetically built similarly but probably a little nicer with the book matched Brazilian rosewood, the guitar was also famously used by Bob Dylan during the late 1970’s and early 1980’s tours.

More photos on our websites if needed.

Specifications:

Solid sitka spruce top,

Back and sides : beautifully figured and book matched Brazilian rosewood back and sides, the figuring on the back of the guitar shows similar grain on the inside of the guitar so it possibly could be solid wood or two pieces of book matched rosewood glued by epoxy resin as the Japanese were building in the 1970s but it probably could be solid book-matched Brazilian Rosewood as well .

Abalone rosette and trim.

Fretboard: Abalone “Tree of Life” fretboard inlays,

bound neck, takamine logo on headstock mimics Martin & co.

Ebony bridge with Abalone leaf accents,

custom pick guard looks to be factory original .

Tuners : Original gold-plated Takamine stamped tuners work flawlessly

and hold tune really well .

Nut Width- 1 11/16"

Case : vintage hard case included in excellent condition , latch on lock works but needs to be pulled manually sometimes, maybe a spring issue , it should snap open but sometimes it doesn’t to give a complete description of the hard case , you could easily replace for a few bucks but its not that important.
