The Blue Flash Damsel along with the Cats Whisker might just be the most popular trout lures of all time in the UK and they account for large numbers of trout caught annually.  With the most simple of designs the flash damsel fishes well and consistently in most conditions.  A very natural looking fly in the water because it is very similar to the size of the natural damsel nymph. The Olive or Black Damsel with a blue/neon flash is a favourite damsel pattern and has proven over the years to be a great attractor pattern that trout just can't resist and with the addition of the  hot head this fly is irresistible to feeding trout.  The weighted hot head not only provides extra weight to get deeper quicker, it also has the added effect that can suggest an air bubble of an ascending nymph. In hot sunny conditions this to be a great point fly for nymphing on reservoirs and can be fished on either a floating, intermediate or sinking line with a variety of retrieves.
