Technical Information

Solid ink printers are sensitive to the type of ink they are being fed with.

The way it works is the following: the printer melts the solid ink which then drops inside the printhead. The printhead consists of 4 different chambers, one for each color; cyan, magenta, yellow and black. Inside every chamber there is a sensor responsible for checking the level of the melted ink.

The sensor is called "capacitive resistive liquid level sensor". This procedure is detailfully presented in this video . If the sensor's calculations are incorrect, the level of the melted ink could rise and overflow the printhead. This will damage both the printhead the printer circuits.

Xerox has adjusted their printers' sensors to measure their official type of ink. On the other hand, aftermarket/compatible solid ink manufacturers produce types of ink that approximate Xerox's official type of ink, in order for the printer's sensor calculations to be as precise as possible. However, this approximation is difficult to achieve, and when it fails (which happens quite often) it causes the printhead to overflow and destroy the printer.
Since our inks are made from the exact same material as the original, such damage will not occur.
