Polo Ralph Lauren, Cameron Model, Houndstooth Sportcoat, 40R, NWOT, Very Rare!!!

For your consideration is this Incredibly Rare, Brand New, without tags, unused, never worn or altered, simply impeccable, Polo by Ralph Lauren (Cameron Model) Sportcoat.

The Cameron Model was made by Polo Ralph Lauren for Bergdorf Goodman (circa 1990) in this rare, Light Brown / Cream Houndstooth pattern (difficult to appreciate the light brown color by photograph) in the softest, most comfortable, Cashmere/Lambswool blend fabric ever.

The jacket was highlighted by 2 front flap pockets and no rear vent, and although only size Regulars were produced (40R, 42R, etc), what made the silhouette unique was that the jacket was cut 2” longer than a normal Regular, thereby accommodating wearers of both Regular’s and Longs, and seems to fit either perfectly.

And what’s even more distinct, is the perfectly shaped and rolled shoulder silhouette. This jacket is truly unique in every way. I own the same jacket in a size 42R as well (which I purchased back in the 1990's when I was working for Ralph Lauren) and even though these days I’m a 44L, I still refuse to part with my 42R Cameron jacket, and continue to search for a 44R. When I stumbled upon this mint condition, 40R, I scooped it up thinking that if I ever shrink in size as I age and approach my senior years, perhaps I'd be able to enjoy it again in the future.  But alas, after awhile, I realized I was probably never going to shrink down to a 40R and might as well let someone else who values the days gone past, when Ralph put out much more high-quality/truly authentic/heirloom-quality clothing pieces, and let them enjoy it as well.

And I can attest that this jacket goes with absolutely everything!!! Dressed up, dressed down, ivory trousers, dark gray flannels, or jeans. If I could have one jacket for the rest of my life, this would be it.  Therefore I really hope it goes to a good home and to someone who either also works for Ralph Lauren or at least can truly appreciate how cool and amazing this piece actually is.
