Up for sale here is this recap kit for a pair of Acoustic Research AR-6 speakers This will let you completely recap two (2) of these AR speakers. These are brand new Supertech MPT (metallized polypropylene film) capacitors, which are super-high-quality and will sound nice and clear.
There are TWO different crossover designs for the AR-6 speakers. The normal and more common version uses one 10 uf cap per speaker (two caps total). The later, less common version uses one 10 uf cap and one 24 uf cap per speaker (four caps total). This listing is set up so you can select whichever set of caps you need. You will need to open up your speakers to check the crossover caps before you order. I would suggest opening both speakers, just in case one has a different crossover than the other.
These are fairly easy to install as long as you know what you're doing. You will need a decent soldering iron, solder, a Philips screwdriver, wire cutters, and a hot glue gun or rubber cement to aid in mounting the caps. The bodies of the 10 uf caps are about 1.8" long and 0.9" in diameter, and the 24 uf caps are about 2.4" long and 1.14" in diameter. They are larger than the old caps because they are much higher quality. Please see my pictures for details.
