These boots are made with Red Wing's premium Black Chrome Tanned Leather, which makes the leather seem polished without the need to actually polish the boots. By simply keeping the boots cleaned and conditioned, they will retain their glossy aesthetic.

These boots run large, but not as large as iron rangers normally are. I normally wear US 10.5D boots, and 9.5D Iron Rangers usually fit me quite well. However, the 9.5D 9218s are too small on me and, while wearing thin socks, the 10Ds are a much better fit. 

These will fit someone who normally wears a size 9D, and possibly someone who wears an 8.5D, or 8D, after putting in footbeds.

In regards to the modifications...

The exterior of the soles, in addition the leather portion of the outsoles, were dyed black. I also had these sent to Red Wing to put on the speed hooks. 

It's worth mentioning these 9218s are factory firsts.
