This antique brass monkey collar which is adjustable has a leather lining and brass  padlock which opens by using the secret mechanism to release the lock which eliminates the need for a key.

This collar which dates from the 19th century has an inscription hand written on the outside and also on the inside brass section. There are two settings to change the size.

Throughout most of the 19th century it was not uncommon for a family to keep a monkey as a household pet. A very nice collectible item for a cabinet of curiosities.
Could also be used for a small dog.

Internal Circumference (largest size when adjusted): 18 cm (7"). 
(smallest size when adjusted): 17 cm (6 3/4"). 

Condition: Very good used antique condition with signs of use in keeping with age. Some general wear and patina. Leather lining in good condition. Lock works as it should. Please see pictures.
