[Story]
Kurt (Richard Dreyfuss) and Steve (Ron Howard), who are graduating from high school and leaving for college in the city the next day, come to their usual hangout to enjoy their last night in high school to the fullest.
There, they are joined by fellow student Terry (Charles Martin Smith) and scribbler John Milner (Paul Le Mat).
Kurt, who has a scholarship and is going to school with adult expectations, wonders if he will stay in town instead of going to college, while Steve wants to leave the country and go to the city as soon as possible to enjoy the college life.
They go out on the town with their various thoughts and feelings in their minds, but as the night goes on, their thoughts gradually change...
