Offering a two-piece lot relating to individuals living in Lancaster, PA, the first being an 18-pp, handwritten, hand stitched ledger, 3 ¾ x 5 7/8, dated on the cover May 31, 1839, with entries into the 1840s. 

 

John Peter and George Mayer’s names appear on the cover. Many names are covered within the various listings, including Samuel Schlott, Christopher Henley, George Garrity, John Feidel, Jacob Hawk, Soleman Werdtler, Joseph Miller, Daniel Lieb, Daniel Franz, Henry Mohler, among others.  Items purchased include ladles, nails, saddles, tools, clover, rent for a horse. Also included are two recipes for curing rheumatism.

 

Also offered is an 8 ¼ x 12 ¾ bond involving a loan between John Peter of Warwick Township, Lancaster County, and John Frank for $400. Dated April 1, 1834, payable April 1st, 1835. Verso includes individual payments of interest, beginning April 1st 1835 and concluding March 29th, 1841.

 

Ledger is in overall good condition with soiling to the covers and toning to the pages.  Bond has folds, some modest chipping along the edges. One small tear reinforced with archival tape.
