This is a rare "Adaptation" of an original Madeleine Vionnet dress.
In a green silk with a slightly ribbed texture, there are appliques on net around the neckline, and set in to the dramatic batwing sleeves.
The sleeves fasten with two self fabric covered buttons, there is a half belt in back that fastens with a snap, though it originally had a buckle, as there are 3 hand sewn holes at one end to accommodate a buckle prong.
The bias cut is further accented by two groups of sewn down pleats, front and back of the skirt.
It measures 41" around at the bust, 36" around at the waist, it's 47 1/2" long, measured in front, top of neckline to the hem.
In good condition.
There are two seam separations, with some fraying to the net, (where the net inserts have pulled away from the silk) at one armsceye/underarm area, one similar seam separation to the other armsceye, both of these in the back.
There is one seam separation in front, the other front armsceye area has a few, say 3-4, smallish holes in the net.
There are a few other scattered small holes to the net.
These are shown in the closeups.
The belt has a split, as you can see, and some discoloration, though the camera has picked up more of this area than appears to the naked eye.
This is also the case with the discoloration to the upper right sleeve that is showing in some of the photos, it's much less noticeable than the photos show.
The belt, as stated above, most likely had a buckle originally. It closes with a snap, and that end has been cut off. This is hidden when the belt is snapped closed, however.
The hem has a raw edge, there are no "let down" lines, however, and the edge itself is not jagged or uneven.
There are two holes at one wrist, the buttons here have some wear to their fabric covers. This is also pictured.
Underarms are very good.
One underarm seam needs resewing, this is about 1".
The fabrics are strong and holding up, besides the imperfections noted above.
The color is consistent, with any exceptions noted above, the brownish areas or color variation exaggerated by the lighting..
