1) Charging the reader via computer USB port only with the included USB cable. Computer has to stay on while the reader is being charged. Using the USB wall charger may not get battery charged properly.
2) Sony has discontinued this model and closed the ebook store in 2019, so you need to use books you have purchased from other online bookstores, or sideload in your own collection from computer over USB or memory card to the reader.

Whether you want to polish off every book in the canon, or you're crazy for sci-fi, the Pocket Edition says: yes you can!
With the Pocket Edition you can purchase books from the Sony Reader Store, acquire free public domain books from Google Books, and you can obtain books from any number of other online aggregators and personal publishers. In addition, you can also check out books for free from public libraries.
No matter what you're reading the Reader Pocket Edition also provides some great extras - like the ability to make notes in the margins or in a separate document. You can also highlight, make use of the built-in dictionaries and translators, and manage your files with the Reader Library software on your Mac or PC. And an additionally convenience of the Reader is the ability to advance pages with right and left-hand side page buttons.
