Description:

The item up for bids is an original circa 1920s carved wood Anri sculpture of the Infant of Prague. The infant is fully modeled in its traditional pose. The details are quite good quite good with attention paid to the orb, crown, face, hands / fingers, and robes. The colors, too, are wonderful including a beautiful red robe. It looks like there were traces of gold in the design that have oxidized over time. The infant is housed in a cylindrical pointed solid wood cabinet with double doors that swing open to reveal the occupant. The interior of the cabinet is textured or flocked (look like fibers under a loupe but it's not soft). The case is signed on the bottom with a circa 1926 partial round label that reads Anri, Made in Italy. It is a superb example of early twentieth century Anri carving, have some fun and bid!

Dimensions:

The case measures about 3-7/8" tall and is about 2" in diameter at the base. The statue itself is about 2-3/8" tall.

(Note: measurements are approximate)

Condition:

It is in good antique condition. It shows age appropriate wear and tear including scuffs, scratches, and dings. There is minor bumping to the high points. The statue's surface has an aged patina and there is dust accumulation in the recesses. The paint is all original. The colors look good. The finish on the case is original and in good shape, it has a good shine and there is no fading or sun damage to the wood. The hinges are good and the doors open and close as designed. The doors might be very slightly out of alignment but I think it's a function of age and the nature of wood over time. It presents well and is suitable for display. The pictures are the best indicator as to condition, please use the zoom feature and check them out.
