Ven. Edel Quinn, Younger – Restored Photo – Catholic Art Print

Edel Quinn (1907-1944), in the words of a Spanish Cardinal, is "an image of the eternal youth of the Church." That's why we wanted to offer you a restored photograph of Edel in the full bloom of her youth. Young as she is, she still had tuberculosis at the time of this photo. In fact, her health was so poor even then that the Poor Claires refused to accept her into their order. So instead of becoming a nun, she joined the Legion of Mary in 1927.Nine years later, still dying from tuberculosis, she became a missionary for the Legion in Africa. She established hundreds of Legion group across Africa. Hundreds of bishops have advocated her cause. According to the Legion of Mary website, her supporters paint a picture not only of holiness, but of "holiness in its most attractive form. The words love, joy, peace appear in almost every testimony." Imagine her life! Knowing from her teenage years that she would soon die of a terrible lung disease, like slow drowning. Yet instead of moping as we might have done, she went out to work with zeal in the vineyards of the Lord! The Vicar General of Mauritius said of Edel, "I want to lay special emphasis on her constant joy. She was always smiling. She never complained." "What a desolation life would be without the Eucharist," she wrote. She was also extremely devoted to Mary, always carrying a rosary in her hands. She had a childlike trust in the protection of the Blessed Mother, and she never refused anything she thought Our Lady had asked of her. She was declared Venerable in 1994 by Pope St. John Paul II, which means she lived a life of heroic virtue. She needs a miracle to be Beatified, so pray to her for one. To count as her miracle, the prayers need to be devoted to her only. She'll let you know if this is for you. (source: www.legionofmary.ie)!!!IMPORTANT!!!
