Artist Fernand Léger (1881-1955) signed Rider on Horse porcelain ceramic plate, c.1960. The glazed porcelain plate features a transfer design of a rider caressing a horse, in blue, yellow and black. The collectible plate was made by Apilco for the Fernand Léger Museum in Biot, France, and measures 9.5" in diameter. The substantial plate weighs about 1 lb. 7oz. Signed 'F.L.' on the lower right front, with stamped manufacturer's mark 'APILCO' and applied decal label to verso 'Editions S.E.A.L. Exclusivité, Musée F. Léger, Biot'. In excellent pre-owned, vintage condition with no chips or cracks--there are a few tiny subtle scratches above the horse's head and on the rider's right hand--see photo.
