  • Beschreibung: Bezeichnet in der Platte unter der Darstellung mit dem Titel sowie: "Rubens del / Jan. 18 1785 / W. Baillie sculp". Imposante Ganzkörperdarstellung des der Überlieferung zufolge ersten Bischofs von Rom: Sanctus Petrus. Eine Mitra tragend und mit üppigem Bart, blickt er über seine Schulter in den linken Bereich außerhalb des Bildfeldes. Er hebt den linken Ärmel seines Gewands an, was den beiden großen Schlüssel in seiner linken zusätzlich Emphase verleiht.

  • Zustand: Akzeptabler Zustand. Das Blatt ist stark stockfleckig und altersgemäß verfärbt. Entlang der rechten Blattkante durch kleinere Risse (rückseitig verklebt) und Knickspuren beschädigt. Die Darstellung macht einen sehr guten Eindruck.

  • Date: 1785

  • Description: Inscribed in the plate below the depiction with the title and: "Rubens del / Jan. 18 1785 / W. Baillie sculp". Imposing full-length depiction of the first bishop of Rome according to tradition: Sanctus Petrus. Wearing a mitre and with a luxuriant beard, he looks over his shoulder into the left area outside the picture field. He is lifting the left sleeve of his robe, which lends additional emphasis to the two large keys on his left.

  • Condition: Rather good condition. The sheet is heavily foxed and discoloured due to its age. Damaged along the right edge by minor tears (glued on the reverse) and creases. The image makes a very good impression.
