  • Beschreibung: Seele des Menschen, Wie gleichst du dem Wasser! - Sehr schöne Fotografie des Staubbachfalls vom Dorf Lauterbrunnen aus gesehen, der schon Goethe zu seinem berühmten "Gesang der Geister über den Wassern" inspirierte. Original-Fotografie mit hoher Detailschärfe. Ein frühes Zeugnis der Reisefotografie. Um die Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts reisten immer mehr Touristen aus bürgerlichen Kreisen in Europa. Fotografien konnten damals nur mit hohem zeitlichem Aufwand und einer teuren, unhandlichen Apparatur entstehen. Umso dankbarer griffen viele Touristen auf die Arbeiten der professionellen Fotografenateliers vor Ort zurück, um den Zuhausegebliebenen ein Souvenir aus der Ferne mitzubringen oder sie als Erinnerungsstücke zu sammeln. Die Fotografen lichteten die bekanntesten Sehenswürdigkeiten ihrer Heimatstädte ab und begaben sich selbst auf Reisen, um die beliebtesten Ziele ihrer Kunden zu fotografieren und als Albuminabzug anzubieten. Auch antike Kunstschätze wurden fotografisch aufgenommen und den Reisenden angeboten. Die hochwertigen Fotografien der Skulpturen und Fresken leisteten weiterhin einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Dokumentation der Kunstschätze und der Zugänglichkeit für Wissenschaftler aus ganz Europa, die zuvor auf Nachzeichnungen oder Stiche angewiesen waren, wenn sie nicht das Original selbst betrachten konnten.
