  • Beschreibung: Jan de Bisschop (auch Johannes Episcopius) (1628-1671), zuerst Advokat, wurde später Zeichner und Radierer. Er war Schüler von Bartholomeus Breenbergh und beeinflusste u.a. Jacob van der Ulft. Durch seine Kupferstiche nach Vorbildern berühmter Meister hatte er großen Einfluss auf die Kunst seiner Zeit. Vermutlich aus: "Paradigmata Graphices Variorum Artificum".Die Darstellung zeigt in der oberen Reihe links die Brustbilder zweier Jünglinge, welche den Bildnissen zweier älterer Männer mit Bart gegenüber gestellt wurden. In der unteren Reihe findet sich die selbe Antagonie: die zwei Profildarstellungen einer älteren Frau mit gebeugter Haltung steht neben dem Bildnis einer schönen jungen Frau deren langes Haar ein Perlenband ziert.In den unteren Blattecken jeweils nummeriert: "2".

  • Description: Jan de Bisschop (also Johannes Episcopius) (1628-1671), first a lawyer, later became a draughtsman and etcher. He was a pupil of Bartholomeus Breenbergh and influenced Jacob van der Ulft, among others. Through his copper engravings after models of famous masters he had a great influence on the art of his time. Probably from: "Paradigmata Graphices Variorum Artificum".The depiction shows in the upper row on the left the bust portraits of two youths, which are juxtaposed with the portraits of two older men with beards. The lower row shows the same antagonism: the two profile portraits of an older woman with a bent posture is placed next to the portrait of a beautiful young woman whose long hair is adorned with a pearl ribbon.numbered in the lower corners of the sheet: "2".
