  • Beschreibung: Nachdruck. Blick auf das Kurfürstliche Schloss Berg am Starnberger See aus der Vogelperspektive. Im Jahre 1640 durch Hans Friedrich von HÖRWARTH erbaut, wurde es 1676 vom Haus Wittelsbach erworben. Ludwig II. nutzte das Schloss einst als Sommerresidenz. Am 12. Juni 1886 wurde Ludwig II. nach seiner Entmündigung nach Schloss Berg gebracht. Von einem Spaziergang mit dem Arzt Prof. von Gudden kehrten beide nicht lebend wieder. Die Todesursachen sind bis heute nicht geklärt. Nach offizieller Version ertrank er am 13. Juni 1886 im Starnberger See unweit des Schlosses, woran heute die Votivkapelle und davor ein Holzkreuz im flachen Uferwasser bei Berg erinnern.

  • Description: Reprint. Bird's eye view of the Electoral Palace Berg on Lake Starnberg. Built in 1640 by Hans Friedrich von HÖRWARTH, it was acquired by the House of Wittelsbach in 1676. Ludwig II once used the castle as a summer residence. On 12 June 1886, Ludwig II was brought to Schloss Berg after his incapacitation. Neither of them returned alive from a walk with the doctor Prof. von Gudden. The causes of death have not been clarified to this day. According to the official version, he drowned on 13 June 1886 in Lake Starnberg not far from the castle, which is commemorated today by the votive chapel and a wooden cross in the shallow waters near Berg.
