More Useful Features

Ancel PB500 has rich functions, please check the following introduction:

  1. 4 modes to diagnose the electrical system: DC voltage, AC voltage, resistance, diode.
  2. Voltage & Polarity Test: According to the LED light and sound after the probe tip touches the circuit, it can accurately judge the positive, negative, and open circuits.
  3. Continuity Test: While the tool is in Resistance mode, using the probe tip with chassis ground or the auxiliary ground lead, continuity can be tested on wires and components attached or disconnected from the vehicle’s electrical system.
  4. Signal Circuit Test: When the vehicle has a fault code, in order to quickly determine whether the fault is caused by a certain sensor circuit, you can use this tool to quickly draw a conclusion.
  5. Find Short Circuit: A short can manifest itself as a blown fuse or a tripped electrical protection device. Use the probe tip to activate and energize each fuse contact. The contacts that trip the circuit breaker are shorted.
  6. Find Bad Ground: Probe for suspected ground wires or touch probe tips. If the breaker has tripped, the circuit is most likely grounded.
  7. Activate Component in your hand/ in the vehicle/ W/Ground
  8. Test Trailer Lights and Connections: Check function and orientation of connectors and trailer lights
  9. Red/Green Polarity Indicator: The red/green polarity LED illuminates when the probe tip voltage matches and is within ±0.8 volts of the battery voltage. It is additional information that may be of value to a technician.

DC Voltage

While the tool in this mode, contact the probe tip to a circuit, then the LCD display will read the DC voltage with a resolution of 0.1 volt.

AC Voltage

While the tool in this mode, contact the probe tip to a circuit, then the LCD display will read the Max. voltage, the Min. voltage, frequency and duty cycle.

Resistance

While the tool in this mode, contact the probe tip to a circuit, then the LCD display will read the resistance between the tip and auxiliary ground lead.

Tone On/ Off

While the tool in this mode, just do a quick press of the mode button to toggle the tone on or off. While quickly pressing (a quick press and release) the mode button, if a short high beep is heard, this means the audio tone is turned on. If a short low beep is heard, the audio tone is turned off.

20ft Extension Cable:

  • Autel PowerScan 100 itself has an extra-long 20ft cable, considering the volume of 12V-24v vehicles such as ships and trucks, we have additionally equipped with extra 20FT extension cable for emergencies.
  • With the 20FT extension cable, you can freely test the condition of any vehicle circuit without moving the device because the cable is not long enough.

Ancel PB500 Circuit Tester has two power supply methods:

  • 1. Vehicle battery power supply
  • 2. Ciga-rette li-ghter power supply

Quick Self-Test:

  • Before you test a circuit or component, be sure your tool is in good order by doing a quick self-test.
  • With the tool connected, perform a quick self-test. The power switch is a momentary rocker switch located on the tool's body. Flanking the switch are positive and negative markings. Press the Power Switch forward to activate the tip with a positive voltage. The Red LED should light and the LCD display will read the battery voltage. If the tone feature is turned on, a high pitched tone will sound. Let go of the power switch and the LED will turn off and the high tone will cease. Press the Power Switch rearward to activate the tip with a negative voltage. The Green LED should light and the LCD display will read the „0.0V‟ (ground). If the tone feature is turned on, a low pitched tone will sound. Let go of the power switch and the LED will turn off and the low tone will cease. Your tool is working correctly and is now ready for use.

Warning! Ancel PB500 is ONLY for 12-24V vehicle battery electrical systems, and should NOT be used to test 110/220V household electric appliances; otherwise, it will be damaged. The LED and LCD pull no more than 100 milliamp of current, therefore when using this device as a test light or multimeter, it is safe for computer and airbag. While performing component activation, please pay special attention: when the instrument is powered on, if the rocker switch is pressed forward or rearward, it means that all the battery current is being introduced from the positive or negative pole through the probe. Please strictly follow the instructions to avoid damage to the vehicle’s electrical component.
