This folk art wooden box which was lovingly made for the maker's mother originates from France, has wood cane decoration to the front which reads A Ma Mere (to my mother), a heart on the lid and dates from c1920.
The outer of the box has been covered with pine cone scales and wood cane decoration. The hinged lid and interior is lined with wallpaper. The front of the box has a hidden lever which can be pressed to reveal a lower secret drawer.
A charming and unique piece.
