Royal Doulton plate - 1901-1922 backstamp - 19.5cm diameter

Lovely pattern of orchids handpainted around outer edge. Edge is trimmed in a grey and white chevron style pattern and trimmed in gold.

Backstamped ' Royal Doulton England' - have found the following about the backstamp 'In 1901, the company introduced a new Doulton mark with the lion, crown and ‘intersecting D motif’. The new mark and use of the name ‘Royal Doulton’ as opposed to ‘Doulton’ celebrate the grant of the Royal Warrant to Doulton by King Edward VII in 1901. This mark was used in various forms into the 1990s. From 1901 to 1922 the standard mark appears with the words ‘Royal Doulton’ and ‘England’.'

Beautiful piece, with no chips or cracks - doesn't look over 100 years old.
