The LA5-C is an ultra-high power variant of the standard AN/PEQ-15 ADVANCED TARGET POINTER/ ILLUMINATOR/ AIMING LIGHT ( ATPIAL Advanced Laser Illuminated Target Indicator). It is a compact, self-contained laser targeting system with three functions: visible laser targeting, IR invisible laser targeting, and IR invisible illuminator. The proven LA5-C is a weapon mounting system that easily attaches to any M1913 Picatinny rail with a standard rail snap mount. The co-aligned IR and visible aiming lasers are easily adjustable and the LA5-C utilizes the same basic dimensions as the AN/PEQ-15, making it one of the most versatile, lightweight and compact aiming lasers available.
The unit excels in giving you everything you want in a compact size. Its design mounts the unit low on the rail and wraps the Picatinny rail for a hang-up proof, low profile. This is accomplished by utilizing recessed rail retainer mounts. Recessed switches are located at the top of the housing for easy glove operation in the field. The body housing is made of a high density/impact resistant polymer that is very strong. This material reduces the weight of the unit, which is noticeable when carrying equipment for extended periods of time. The LA5-C also features a rear-facing battery compartment that allows the user to remove the battery without having to remove the unit. The battery cover is spring-loaded, allowing the unit to absorb more of the recoil of automatic equipment. There is a molded lanyard loop on the back. The wind deflection and elevation of the illuminator are controlled by easy-to-operate knobs that can be quickly adjusted in the field without tools. Adjustment of the aiming laser is accomplished with a small flathead screwdriver. This allows the user to zero the illuminator for a number of different ranges on the field. The LA5-C is an ultra-high-power aiming laser system that allows the operator to easily indicate the longest distance on the field. Its laser output is powerful enough to easily communicate with the air and other ground teams operating in the area. For this purpose, the 50 mW IR invisible laser can be focused into a narrow beam. The high power visible targeting laser allows it to be used in direct sunlight. Despite the high power of the LA5-C's IR targeting laser, the unit can still be used easily at close range. It has a CQB mode that allows the operator to immediately reduce the power to prevent the laser from overbrightening the target at CQB distance.
