Tae Chosŏn chido, also known as the Great Map of the East Land, is a significant historical mapS that originated from Korea.

Created during the Joseon Dynasty, the Tae Chosŏn chido is renowned for its comprehensive depiction of the Korean Peninsula and the surrounding regions.

The Tae Chosŏn chido was commissioned by King Chŏngjo, who reigned from 1776 to 1800, with the purpose of accurately representing the geography and topography of the Korean Peninsula.

It was completed in 1861 by a team of cartographers led by Kim Jeong-ho, a prominent Korean geographer and scholar.

The Twelve mapS showcase various geographical elements, including mountains, rivers, lakes, and cities, with an emphasis on accuracy. It also incorporates intricate illustrations of cultural and historical landmarks, such as palaces, temples, and forts.

The maps reflects the importance placed on accurate geographic representation and the desire to preserve knowledge for future generations.
