Hello and welcome to my auction!

Here we have an incredible time capsule.

This is a 1967 Gibson dual pickup Melody Maker Deluxe with vibrola in Pelham Blue Metallic.

Serial number #00695X

This color turns green over time and is one of the rarest colors that Gibson offered. Highly prized!

There is some crazing in the varnish on the back of neck near the heal and some on the lower back on the back of the body.

A few minor dings and digs front and back, and a small one on the neck, but overall in absolutely stunning condition.

The chrome on the bridge is perfect as is the vibrola.

There is a small amount of surface wear to the chrome where the players hand sometimes rests when using the vibrola bar.

All knobs are original.

Small amount of corrosion on the input jack washer.

There is a small piece of the lower pickguard missing nearest the fretboard. and one small crack on the upper pickguard nearest the fretboard. This is a common problem with Gibson pickguards, as they shrink and expand with age. This also happens with Vox guitars, for the same reason. Fender got it right by having rolling corners instead of pointy ones. After market pickguards are available, if you so choose to replace it.

Minor discoloration/yellowing on the pickguard.

The handle on the vibrola arm has minor yellowing, as well.

Neck joint to body is perfect. No cracks at all! Just a few surface aging lines in the varnish.

Rosewood fretboard is in great shape with mother of pearl fret markers all present.

Frets has some wear up and down - mostly on the first three frets and all the way up the fretboard on the bass side.

Most likely the guitar was used by a rhythm guitar player.

Very little wear on the treble side.

Never re-fretted.

Has great intonation and action all the way up the neck. Truss rod functions. Guitar weighs 6 lbs 13 oz.

Guitar has all original tuners and buttons and the headstock is almost pristine except for a tiny bit of surface wear to the very top. Looks new!

Backplate in perfect condition with all original screws present.

I believe all the screws on the guitar are original since I bought the guitar from the original owner over 40 years ago.

Comes with the original warranty hang tag with the original price of $179.50!

The case was an extra $15.00!

Had three sets of original Gibson strings in the case when I bought it.

It has one complete set and one string missing out of the other 2.

Original strap buttons.

Matching color after market strap.

Original chipboard case is black on the outside and brown on the inside with the Gibson badge on the pocket lid inside the case.

Has been battered around a bit over its lifetime, as have I, but still functions perfectly. All latches, hinges and handle work. Corrosion on the latches from wear. Some loss on the surfaces inside and outside the guitar from normal wear.

Case measures 41” L x 14” W x 4” H.

Guitar measures 38” L x 13” W x 3” H

***Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of new and used pieces. Regarding the sale of musical instruments, we have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available. No returns for sizes so check measurements carefully.

***My shipping policy is simple. DO NOT PAY IF YOU WIN THE AUCTION!

I WILL SEND YOU AN INVOICE ONCE I HAVE PAID FOR THE SHIPPING MATERIALS AND DETERMINE WHICH SHIPPER IS THE CHEAPEST AND BEST OPTION. ALSO, I NEED TO CALCULATE THE ADDED CHARGE FOR INSURING THE ITEM BASED ON ITS FINAL SALE PRICE. SOME OF THE ITEMS I SELL ARE EXPENSIVE AND HEAVY. THEY COST MONEY TO SHIP! IF YOU DON’T AGREE WITH MY POLICY, DO NOT BID. I HAVE OVER 4K POSITIVE TRANSACTIONS AND ALWAYS DO MY BEST FOR MY CUSTOMERS. THANKS!

I purchase boxes and shipping materials and charge the buyer for them at  cost. This does not show up in the Ebay shipping calculator. Neither does the insurance cost. I have used FedEx, USPS and UPS. They are have their strengths and weaknesses. Because of these factors, sometimes I  setting a flat shipping price just in case some of you don't read my policy. I will refund any overage if the charges are less and expect you to fairly pay if the charges are more. All receipts will be scanned and shared with you.

Melody Maker SG (1965-70)

This was the first Gibson Melody Maker that featured the devil-horn body style of the Gibson SG. This model featured a nitro laquer guitar finish in a variety of solid colors. It housed up to three single coil pickups (depending on the model) similar to the P-90 pickup. Almost all the guitars featured a stock Vibrola unit used to bend strings to alter the pitch of a note. The models were made with cheaper components for newer more inexperienced players. Gibson stopped production of these SG models in 1970 because of financial issues, they continued manufacturing the classic melody maker body style at various points throughout the years.
