Assassin snails are a popular freshwater critter that many people want to own. They are carnivores that feed off of other snails and are often introduced to tanks that are overrun by pest snails. They are slow-moving, feed on small snails, and spend most of their time at the bottom of the tank burrowed in the substrate. They are very low-maintenance and can thrive without much fuss. The priority requirements are good tank conditions and plenty of nutritious food. Here are some key points to keep in mind when caring for assassin snails:

- **Tank size**: A 10-gallon tank is sufficient for a small group of assassin snails.

- **Water parameters**: The ideal temperature range for assassin snails is between 20°C and 28°C, with a pH level of 6.5 to 7.0 and hardness levels of 6-18kH.

- **Diet**: Assassin snails are carnivores and feed on other snails. They can also be fed sinking pellets, frozen or live foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, and daphnia.

- **Behavior and temperament**: Assassin snails are peaceful and won't harm fish or large invertebrates.

- **Tank mates**: Assassin snails can be kept with other peaceful fish and invertebrates.

Did you acclimate them on arrival? To acclimate snails into freshwater safely, you need to follow a series of steps:
Bring snails home safely in a plastic bag.
Let the bag float on the tank’s water.
Remove ⅓ of water from the bag and replace it with tank water. Wait for another 30 m

We dispatch live snails on Mondays and Tuesdays only to reduce transit time and to avoid them being held over the weekends. We encourage you to choose the fastest delivery to ensure safe delivery, please note we can not guarantee the snails will be alive if you choose regular delivery and/or not acclimate them on arrival. Please note also the snails may not move for a whole night and it can sometimes take up to 2-3 days for them to settle into their new environment.
