Jahrhunderts auf dem Mont Andaon erbaut wurde. Sie birgt eine romanische Kapelle und Überreste der ehemaligen Benediktinerabtei Saint-André. Das Blatt entstand auf einer Reise, die den englischen Architekten, Kartographen, archäologischen Schriftsteller, Kunstsammler, Numismatiker und literarischen Übersetzer William Barnard Clarke zwischen 1838 und 1839 nach Frankreich und später im Jahr 1839 weiter nach Italien führte.

  • Description: View of the stairway to the two characteristic towers of the gatehouse of the fortress in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon,which was built on Mont Andaon in the first half of the 14th century. It houses a Romanesque chapel and the remains of the former Benedictine abbey of Saint-André. The print was created on a journey that took the English architect, cartographer, archaeological writer, art collector, numismatist and literary translator William Barnard Clarke to France between 1838 and 1839 and later on to Italy in 1839.
