• Beschreibung: Bei der Figur handelt es sich um einen Kupferstich von Gilles Rousselet (Paris 1614-1686 Paris), der Hintergrund wurde radiert von Abraham Bosse (Tours 1602/1604-1676 Paris); nach: Claude Vignon (Tours 1593-1670 Paris). Verleger: Pierre Mariette (1596-1657). Unter der Darstellung bezeichnet: "Vignon Inu", "Rousselet fecit", und "de l'impression de Mariette Auec Priuilegie 8"; mit französischen Versen in zwei Spalten: 'Cet ingrat favory de la Divinité.. Ne rend à tant d'amour qu'autant de cruaute[?]'; Dargestellt ist die Samische Sibylle mit Dornenkrone und Maiskornpflanze, im linken Hintergrund ist die Kreuzigung Christi dargestellt. Die Samische Sibylle ist eine der nach dem römischen Historiker Varro von Laktanz unterschiedenen zehn Sibyllen, die jeweils mit einem geographischen Epithet versehen sind. Die Druckgraphik stammt aus einem berühmten Antiquariat in München.

Mit teils bestoßenen Ecken. Mit minimaler Fehlstelle an der Blattecke links unten. Die Graphik ist eng beschnitten.

• Description: The figure is a copperplate engraving by Gilles Rousselet (Paris 1614-1686 Paris), the background was etched by Abraham Bosse (Tours 1602/1604-1676 Paris); after: Claude Vignon (Tours 1593-1670 Paris). Publisher: Pierre Mariette (1596-1657). The Samian Sibyl is one of the ten sibyls distinguished by the Roman historian Varro of Lactance, each of which is labelled with a geographical epithet. The print comes from a famous antiquarian bookshop in Munich.

• Condition: Rather good condition. The paper is slightly soiled on all sides. The sheet shows slight foxing. With brownish dirt stains spread across the sheet. With partially bumped corners. With minimal loss to the lower left corner of the sheet. The print is closely trimmed.
