Roman Imperial, mid 4th century AD, Hegemon Iou..., lead seal (bulla). Draped and bearded bust of the hegemon Iou... right/blank, inscription: "ΗΓΑΙΜ-ΟΝ ΙΟΥ".
The bearded portrait is somewhat unusual for the era and may suggest that the official depicted was a pagan supporter of Julian II c. 360-3 AD.
VF+, good patina, clear legend. Very rare.
Apparently unpublished in the standard references. ex-Gorny & Mosch, Auction 276 (19 April 2021), lot 751, and previously part of the Peter Weiß collection (Kiel, Germany), formed between 1967 and 2015.
