The £30 cost covers a variety of repairs, typically the labour and one part, e.g. the dock connector, battery, screen (not ipod video screen due to part cost) or headphone assembly etc. 

The postage charge is for the return of your ipod following repair. This is sent using Royal Mail Tracked 24.

If HDD replacement is required (e.g. red cross, no music showing / playing) the storage part cost is charged on top once the work is complete and tested.

I can open your ipod to work on without marking it at all.
