Extremely rare pair of intricately carved clay-faced German Santa figures. Made from gold/yellow/orange spun cotton and chenille, they are adorned with fishing rope and nets. In many European cities and nations, Saint Nicholas is best known as the patron saint of sailors, fishermen, ships, islands and all cities with harbors. Measuring at around 2 inches each, these tiny Santas are perfect for collectors or those looking to add a touch of European folk art to their decor.

They are in very good condition for their age. The reclining Santa can be sat up or laying on his side and has a very unique look of surprise on his face as he has become entangled in his ropes! The other Santa's paper base is a little loose and he does not stand well on his own (needs to be propped up).  Please see photos for condition.

These charming Santa's are likely from the early 1900s and are an incredibly unique and rare set. Imagine the stories they could tell!
