Two WWI-era US Army Soldiers in Uniform Photograph Postcard and Regular Postcard
- Two soldiers posing. About 3.5"x5.5", one of those old cards where they attach a photograph to the paper backing to create a personalized postcard. Reverse side as an AZO stamp locator. Two names are written: Jim Ryan and Ernest McIntyre. Their Sergeant rank patches appear to be for the Quartermaster Corp. In WWI it was a popular thing to do having your posed photos taken with a buddy or buddies with a chair and a backdrop canvas. The postmark is not completely visible, but appears to be FORT R... which if in Kansas may have been Fort Riley.
- Postcard of 6 soldiers in uniform with rifles at attention. The building behind has a stack of cannon balls. Other soldiers can be seen in the background and in the building of the image. Reverse side has a 1 cent Washington stamp which is postmarked for either Kansas or Arkansas from a Fort. A soldier James Ryan is writing to his brother in St. Louis Missouri. James is one of the soldiers (Jim) in the other postcard. About 3.5"x5.5"
Used, as-is. Creases and wear and aged paper. One card was messaged and postmarked, the other card has the subjects' names written on the back. See attached pictures.
