Fall River Line: A souvenir plate from the early 1900s showing the Fall River Line night boats.

The plate is just under 8" in diameter and features a pattern around the perimeter of crossed American flags, seashells, and anchors. Going clockwise from top left, the boats are PLYMOUTH (1890), PURITAN (1889), PRISCILLA (1894), and PROVIDENCE (1905). In the center is the largest of the night boats, COMMONWEALTH of 1908. The plate is back-marked Frank Beardmore & Co., Fenton, England.

The Fall River Line sailed from New York up the Long Island Sound to Fall River, Massachusetts. There passengers boarded trains for Boston. Eventually through rail lines and then the automobile cut into business. The line closed in 1937.

Excellent condition.
