This is a flat Tesla coil specifically for use with gas-discharge light tubes and bulbs.

The Tesla coil generates a high frequency high voltage electric field when operating and may interfere with some sensitive appliances and wiring, therefore it is best to keep the Tesla coil away from sensitive appliances and wiring. The area of the glass disc at the top is within the high voltage field and should not be touched by hands or body, because it may be hurt.
