  • Description: This artwork shows a detailed depiction of the amphitheatre of Nîmes, in front of which a battle has taken place. Fallen soldiers and horses, dead and wounded lie on the battlefield. It is night, but the ruins of the majestic architecture glow brightly. Is it flames?
