We have here a rare Videodisc player that has been tested and works, as you can see in our video.
Please note that during our testing this unit worked exactly as shown in our video.
Some of what we did to service this unit includes:
-Cleaning and applying lithium lubricant to some of the moving parts such as gears and sliding bars.
-Installed a brand new belt to replace the tray intake mechanism one that is known to deteriorate due to the material used for them originally.
The player was tested with 3 different discs, all ran normally, the mechanism took them in, unloaded them and ejected the protective sleeve/carriage, they then spun as intended by the manufacturer and the movies ran. Movies were tested without and with the top cover on. As we mention in our video we only took the cover off to show you the mechanism at work.
We show in our video and explain that the movies we used all have sections where they skip or have a defect, we trust that this is solely due to them and not the stylus because it always happened in the same spot of the video. With that being said please remember that this is an old electronic and styluses do eventually fail and need to be replaced. Since this is a pre-owned item we have no way of knowing how many hours are on the stylus. This is the only reason we are listing it 'for parts'.
One detail you will sometimes see is that the front cover stays in the down position but resets if tapped gently [shown].

There are a couple of painters tape strips on the back of the unit, we did not remove these as we do not want to damage the label.
Please note that these are very heavy units and also very delicate. If you are familiar with them and want us to ship the cartridge that contains the stylus OUT of its slot please let us know in advance. If we don't hear from you we will still ask prior to shipment but if we still get no response from you then we will ship it in its slot in order to meet ebay shipping timelines. This can result in the cartridge shifting during transit which may require you to reseat it for it to operate properly. This is a fairly simple process but we want to make this transaction as smooth as possible.
