What Are LittleBits?
Each Bit is a discrete electronics component designed to easily connect to other Bits to create a device. Magnetic connectors snap each piece together, making sure all contacts are aligned properly so the current flows in the proper direction. Bits are color-coded, with each project requiring at least a blue Bit for power and usually some combination of pink input Bits and green output Bits. Orange wire and logic Bits can add a lot more complexity to devices, and include options as simple as forking wires to as complicated as Arduino controllers.
What's In the Kit?
The Rule Your Room Kit includes its own crown jewel orange Bit, the w14 Makey Makey. It's the LittleBits version of the Makey Makey board, a popular electronics kit component. Makey Makey uses sets of bare contacts that, when connected with the included alligator clip wires to an object, turns that object into a button or switch. It can read very small amounts of current, so almost anything that isn't completely and perfectly insulated can work with it (Makey Makey often uses a banana as an example).
