A beautiful, rare, and delicate example of an original and antique W A Pickard China pitcher, in the painted Poppy style, dating to the early 1900's (appears to be "Mark 4. 1903-1905, 9/16″ dia. light brown to very dark reddish-brown decal. Used at the carriage barn studio", but as it is very close in style and measurement it could also potentially date to "Mark 2. 1898-1903, 5/8″ dia. maroon to pale brown decal. Used at LaSalle Street studio". Please see photos for details of backstamp marking).

Hand painted with artist signature (please see photos for the artist's reference), in the rare Poppy motif, gold gilt painting throughout the rim, handle, and base, and has a stunning iridescent finish, embracing the true beauty and design of the Art Nouveau era. This W A Pickard Fine China pitcher is smaller in size, measuring at 4.5".

Lovingly cared for and at over 100 years old, this piece is in excellent antique condition, with no visible flaws (no chips, no cracks), the hand painting is beautiful and vibrant with very little, if any, signs of wear. Please note that this is a handmade pottery piece, there are natural variations indicative of a handmade item of the era. Please see photos for in depth details, as they are part of the description. This is a very special piece, and each detail is part of its loving story and history. Originally from an old estate, and now sharing from our personal collection.
