Hardcover with unmarked burgundy cloth textured boards with crisp gilt titling to a good spine with feint creases top and bottom; perfect joints and hinges; no bumps or shelf wear, tight square binding; perfectly regular text block top edge evenly tinted and feint dust-spotting to the opening edge; clean text; sharp page corners, no inscriptions or other alien marking excepting the name of the former owner, on the top edge of the half title page; not malodorous; no foxing; plain crimson endpapers. Generally exceptionally tidy.

The dustwrapper has a small area of loss at the crown of the spine, but is not price clipped (Macmillan £5.95 net), glossy full colour, not faded; with light rubbing and creasing along top and bottom edges.

Hardcover with pristine unmarked burgundy cloth textured boards with crisp gilt titling to excellent spine; perfect joints and hinges; no bumps or shelf wear, spine extremities undamaged and near perfect; tight square binding; perfectly regular text block, top edge patchily tinted; clean text; sharp page corners, no inscriptions, marginalia or other alien marking excepting a red spot on the half-title page; not malodorous; no discolouration or foxing; plain endpapers but the ffep has been removed. Complete with perfect Middle-earth fold-out map at rear. Nice excepting the removed ffep.

The dustwrapper has no loss apart from being price clipped, glossy full colour, but with a faded spine panel; good top and bottom edges.
