This particular type of Australian Army issued sleeping bag outer could be clipped to a woollen blanket liner and used as an improvised light weight sleeping bag for the hot conditions encountered by the Australian Army in South East Asia. These were also used to cover normal sleeping bags.
The left side of the sleeping bag outer has four pairs of press studs for opening and closing. An olive green nylon strip runs along under these press studs. A flap is also attached to the left side. Olive green nylon tabs are sewn along the bottom.

Commonly know by Australian soldiers as a "Silk" although they are made of nylon.

Wool liner is shown for illistration only

Please note: as these are military surplus and may have wear and tear from use by the military.  They may have stains and repairs, but these are all part and parcel of military surplus with genuine patina.  There will be some colour, quality and style variation to the image shown as every item is different.
