Im Gericht sitzen drei Juristen gähnend bzw. schlafend. Es sind die Ankläger, die der Rede des Verteidigers keine Beachtung schenken. Die satirische Zeitschrift "Punch" oder "The London Charivari" wurde ab 1841 in London herausgegeben und musste 1992 eingestellt werden. Der Versuch scheiterte, die Zeitschrift, die in den 1940er Jahren sehr auflagenstark gewesen war, wiederzubeleben.

  • Description: Inscribed: "Manners of the bar. A sketch in the law courts, showing the patient and respectful attention of the counsel for the plaintiff during the speech of counsel for defendant". Three lawyers sit in the court yawning or asleep. It is the prosecutors who pay no attention to the speech of the defence counsel. The satirical magazine "Punch" or "The London Charivari" was published in London from 1841 and had to be discontinued in 1992. The attempt to revive the magazine, which had had a very large circulation in the 1940s, failed.
