The UK original
release of the CD single "What Can I Do" and the 3rd single from the
Corrs'
"Talk on Corners" album. Although the Corrs were increasing receiving
more airplay on the strength of their initial "Talk on Corners"
releases, this performed poorly in the UK on its first chart outing. It
was released in February 1998, a month before the Corrs' highly
influential Royal Albert Hall performance, and was widely ignored by
the general public, reaching a peak of number 53 in the official UK
charts. It is, therefore, much harder to come by than the Tin Tin Out
remix release.
In all honesty,
this is one of my favourite Corrs releases - all three tracks are
excellent. Firstly, there is the "What
Can I Do" original
mix which, in my opinion, is
the best version of the song. With a lot less track production, it is
how the song was meant to sound and has a much more natural feel to it.
Secondly, is a cover of the
Jimi Hendrix classic "Little
Wing". As
with any good cover version, the Corrs approach the lyrics in a
different way, giving their own unique rendition of the song. Lastly,
is a live version of "No Good for Me" recorded,
by the Danish Broadcasting Corporation P3 Live, in Copenhagen on 25th October, 1997
for the Med et Z show. The
CD is the only official release that contains this live version. From
the sound of the acoustics, the song was performed at a small venue,
giving it a sound that is not achieved in other live DVD and video
performances.
A
must-own addition to any serious collection.
