Der Schweizer Dichter, Maler und Zeichner Usteri war ein angesehenes Mitglied der geistigen Elite von Zürich; seine Mundartdichtung beeinflusste spätere Dichter. "Den durch die Staatsumwälzung von 1798 hervorgerufenen Neuerungen stand Usteri feindlich gegenüber und gab seinem Unmut durch zahlreiche poetische und bildliche Karikaturen Ausdruck . Die Schreckenstage in Nidwalden riefen bei ihm 1803 die 'in edle Galle getauchte' Bilderfolge 'Das Vater Unser eines Unterwaldners' hervor." (Brun, Künstler-Lexikon III, 353). - Die Erstausgabe erschien 1803.Verso in Blei bezeichnet von fremder Hand: "plate 7 (of 7). Das Blatt stammt aus dem berühmten Hause "Ludwig Rosenthal's Antiquariat", München.

  • Description: Invented by Johann Martin Usteri in Zurich; executed and etched in ink manner by Marquard Wocher in Basel. The Swiss poet, painter and draughtsman Usteri was a respected member of Zurich's intellectual elite; his dialect poetry influenced later poets. "Usteri was hostile to the innovations brought about by the upheaval of the state in 1798 and expressed his displeasure through numerous poetic and pictorial caricatures . The days of horror in Nidwalden provoked in him in 1803 the series of pictures 'dipped in noble bile', 'The Our Father of an Unterwaldner'." (Brun, Künstler-Lexikon III, 353). - The first edition was published in 1803. Verso inscribed in pencil by another hand: "plate 7 (of 7). The print comes from the famous "Ludwig Rosenthal's Antiquariat", Munich.
