  • Bezeichnung: Unterhalb der Darstellung bezeichnet in Niederländisch und Latein. Mittig unterhalb der Darstellung signiert mit "P. Schenk exc. Amst C. P.". Peter Schenk der Ältere war ein deutscher Kupferstecher und Kartograf aus Elberfeld, heute zu Wuppertal. Um 1684 zog er nach Amsterdam und wurde Schüler von Gerard Valck, spezialisiert in Schabkunst; Reisen nach Leipzig und Berlin.   • Zustand: Akzeptabler Zustand. Das Blatt hat sich altersgemäß leicht verfärbt, untere Blattkante leicht bestoßen; mittig ist eine feine vertikale Faltspur zu sehen Das dekorative Blatt macht einen sehr guten Eindruck.

  • Inscription: Inscribed in Dutch and Latin below the image. Signed in the centre below the image "P. Schenk exc. Amst C. P.". Peter Schenk the Elder was a German engraver and cartographer from Elberfeld, today part of Wuppertal. Around 1684 he moved to Amsterdam and became a pupil of Gerard Valck, specialising in mezzotint; he travelled to Leipzig and Berlin. Until his death in 1718/19 he published numerous maps and pictures. Please also note our other works in the Peter Schenk series.

  • Condition: Rather good condition. The sheet has slightly discoloured due to its age, lower edge of the sheet slightly bumped; a fine vertical fold mark can be seen in the centre The decorative sheet makes a very good impression.
