RARE vintage multicolored Marmoucha Rug from the Middle Atlas Mountains of Morocco

This is a type of very plush Beni M'guild rug from the Middle Atlas, specifically the village of Dar el Harma, and the tribe I Marmoucha.

Its composition is very elaborate, as if the weaver wanted to include the story of multiple lifetimes. On a natural wool background the design is an arrangement of diamond frames, each enclosing either groupings of stars and 8 pointed glyphs. Around and amongst the lattice framework you will see an array of colors used in addition to the usual Black on Ivory that is more common.
The type of wool is from a rare high elevation sheep known for its ultra silky wool. These sheep are only cut along the back where their wool is the thickest and silkiest.
Rugs like this are very rare to find and we have curated a stunning collection that had been saved solely for family members as heritage rugs.

This one is extraordinary.
