Ab Initio

by Charles J Thompson

The de Havilland DH82A Tiger Moth was used as an "ab initio" trainer both before and throughout the Second World War. This particular aircraft is one of the oldest Tiger Moths still flying today.

Although it is in "civil" markings it is none the less the same type that thousands of wartime pilots flew both in Britain and at training stations in the Commonwealth and the USA.

There are still Tigers flying today at various clubs up and down the country although virtually all the surviving planes are in private hands as "vintage" and valuable possessions.
